If you’re a follower on my Instagram, you may have gathered that I went on a business trip to Las Vegas a couple weeks ago with my husband! I wanted to thanks J & M for making it possible. It was my first time to Vegas and a very special trip!
This week’s Sunday Shorts is going to be a photo dump. I always feel like I need to apologize in advance, by the way, because I took them with a camera phone, so they aren’t the best quality!
The lovely hotel we stayed in was a suite inside the Venetian Las Vegas. The suite was 650 square feet, so I’d have to say it was probably larger than my very first apartment! And we had the most beautiful poolside view as you can see in the photo below that I took from our room’s window.
The Venetian is the LARGEST hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The bottom right is the hallway that leads from the lobby to the hotel’s casino and from there, there’s a food court, shops, meeting rooms, and in one of the meeting “rooms” (I’m using that term loosely because it was so large), our company sponsored a concert of REO Speedwagon which was a lot of fun!
The photo of the top right was taken in the shopping section. That’s actually a live person posing like that… not a statue. I probably would’ve walked by without a second glance if he didn’t change positions and startle me!
Take a look behind me and you’ll see that they also do Gondola Rides at the Venetian while they serenade you in Italian! There is a tradition where couples kiss under each bridge for good luck which I thought was pretty cute.
On our second night, we had dinner with the awesome J & M pair which gave us an excuse to get all dolled-up. The dress is actually an Olsenboye which I know is a brand marketed towards teens, but I thought it was really pretty, so I scooped it up anyway. And this was the only photo I took of the powder room/vanity/bathroom area in our suite, I realized! I’m pretty bummed about that because it was really nice and, as strange as it sounds, I’d like to remember it! It had the nicest, comfiest tub I’ve ever soaked in!
The restaurant J & M took us to was Morels French Steakhouse & Bistro and the service was excellent. I ordered the Clams Linguini and I promise, although I took many foodie photos while I was in Vegas, this will be the only one I post because it was the most delicious!
Of course, we went down to the strip! It was all actually smaller than I thought it would be. I’m so used to watching episodes of COPS where they’re arresting people over and over on the strip that I thought they walked miles upon miles of territory!
People watching was by far the best part of Fremont Street. My favorite acts were a body contortionist and a group of young kids performing to Michael Jackson (which, by the way, I didn’t get to see the Michael Jackson One Show by Cirque Du Soleil, but I really, really wanted to!)
Oh, and there were lots of dressed up people to take photos with. Here are the G-rated ones, haha:
We didn’t eat here, but this is a restaurant on Fremont called Heart Attack Grill (just a heads-up: the website is semi-NSFW). The food has names like “Single bypass burger”, “Double bypass burger” and they go ALL the way up to “Octuple bypass burger”!
Patrons who weigh over 350lbs get to eat free at the Heart Attack Grill, and customers dress in hospital gowns, while the staff dresses as doctors and nurses and they haul around IVs (I couldn’t figure out what those were for!). Oh, and if you don’t finish all your food, they whip out a wooden paddle and spank you! Seriously! I still can’t figure out what that has to do with a hospital theme.
So, this has been was some of my Las Vegas trip photo dump. A lot of our time was spent in meetings and wandering around Casinos, which didn’t make for especially interesting photo opps. Another highlight is that I reconnected with an old girlfriend of mine that I fell out of touch with years and years ago and we conversed comfortably like no time had passed at all which was a wonderful thing!
I missed my girls and called them every day. They however did not miss me and were sure to tell me not to come home because they were having a blast with their grandma. I’d prefer that to the alternative
I’ve been asked if I won anything in Vegas. So here is my big reveal! I’ll just let this photo speak for itself! (Drumroll…….)
