Scent Trunk, who kindly sent me a box to review, is a monthly fragrance subscription service.
Scent Trunk has two services: one for men and one for women. I received the women’s box for my review and I was pretty excited to see what it was like! If you’re a reader of my blog, you probably know by now that I’m a huge lover and collector of fragrances.
With Scent Trunk, you make a profile and then you get a box customized with three different fragrance vials that they believe will best suit your tastes. The three vials arrive in a soft, velvety pouch.
Each fragrance vial comes with its own information card. On the back of each info card is a history of the fragrance, season suggestions in which to wear it, the time of day to wear it, the longevity, and the sillage.
Safanad by Parfums de Marly– The notes I detect in this are Orange, Amber, Vanilla, Powder, and Sandalwood… with Vanilla and Sandalwood lingering the longest. I am not a personal fan of powdery fragrances and can only tolerate vanilla under some circumstances, so this is a fragrance that I have to take a pass on. However, it’s long-lasting, so anybody who is a fan of this fragrance will not need to reapply it midday.
Pauline Rance 1795– I initially preferred this one over the Safanad when I first sprayed it, but again, it has a strong powdery finish. It has a fruity woodsy vibe with notes detected: Orange and Patchouli. It just doesn’t mesh very well with my chemistry, unfortunately. As you can see on the fragrance card, it’s a morning and evening fragrance, has mid-tier lasting power and mid-tier sillage. Suggested seasons to wear this are Spring and Autumn.
Panda by Zoologist– Out of the three fragrances, this one is the one I like the most. It’s definitely a woodsy fragrance. I think I’d love it if it incorporated a little more floral, but it does round-off a bit sweeter than my first impression.
So, those were the contents of my Scent Trunk: Women’s Edition! There’s also a men’s subscription option. Here’s a little promo-video that captures what the women’s service is all about:
If you’re a fragrance lover, you may find that this service is for you! These scents were sent to me complimentary and tended to fall more on the earthy or woodsy side. I think if I were to subscribe and fill out my fragrance profile, I would’ve had more positive reviews about my fragrances choice because I believe I would’ve been matched up with fruity/florals which is more my taste!
Otherwise, I did enjoy this service. I feel like you’re subscribing to a shopping service so you can experiment with niche fragrances you might not otherwise stumble upon and receive an education on the cards about each one. My only suggestion would be that it would be helpful for Scent Trunk to also incorporate each scent’s fragrance notes on their respective cards.
