Wow, my Birchbox was on point this month! Nice and heavy when it arrived. I was pretty excited to open it.
**SPOILER ALERT**: It’s my favorite box I’ve ever received!
In case you aren’t familiar, Birchbox is a subscription box service where you receive 4-6 beauty and lifestyle samples delivered to your mailbox every month. Boxes usually consist of samples, deluxe samples, and sometimes full-sized products. (To view my past Birchbox reviews, click here.)
One of the perks of being a Birchbox subscriber is their awesome reward point system. Every 100 points you receive equals $10 you can spend in the Birchbox shop on full-sized products. Points expire within a year being issued, so you can save them up, but you can’t hoard them forever! (I redeemed a lot of mine for my haircare products that I usually have to spend my $$ on, so I end up saving a lot of money by doing this!)
One way to receive reward points is to review the samples you receive in your Birchbox. For each review you submit, you receive 10 Birchbox points. So, for instance, I received 5 products this month. That is 50 points I’ll be receiving just for reviews which equals $5. So as you can see, they’re really easy to accumulate.
Every month, Birchbox has a box theme. The theme for March 2015 is “Creativity” and the information card is actually a contest. Subscribers are supposed to fill it out, share it on social media and then tag #Birchbox and #giveaway for a chance to win full-sized versions of everything in our boxes!
Although every month the contents of subscribers’ boxes are a surprise, you can control the type of content you receive in your boxes by filling out your profile. So as a subscriber, I can click if I enjoy hair samples more so than cosmetics, how experienced I consider myself to be with beauty products, etc, and they curate my box according to these preferences, hoping that I’ll be able to make the most out of my samples. I think there’s somewhere between 30-50 variations of boxes each month!
Elite Therapeutics Rosemary Eucalyptus Body Creme ($1.26)- This feels like a standard lotion for your hands. It contains 70% organic ingredients and leaves them feeling soft. I needed another tube of lotion for the car, so this managed to come at the perfect time. The fragrance smells like I expected when I smell eucalyptus and natural-type of skincare products.
It’s a 10 ($9)- Can I just say how excited I was to receive this in my box? This is actually my usual go-to when I style my hair straight with the blow dryer and this sample is really generous- half the size of a regular bottle, so this is saving me some $$! “It’s a 10” leaves my hair straight, non-frizzy, and shiny. The only thing that I wish is that it smelled differently. I love the way it works, but the fragrance just isn’t very pleasant to me at all which is unfortunate because I constantly use it!
Jelly Pong Pong ($12.75)- Totally thought this was a bottle of Nail Polish! It’s actually a skin luminizing gel designed to make your face look “glowy” or “dewy” or “healthy”. I think I’ll play around with it a little bit… maybe put a little on the top of my cheekbones, under my brows… a little on my cupid’s bow. We’ll see! I just looked up the price and saw that my sample is not actually a sample at all, but it’s the full-sized product. That’s nice!
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser ($3.25 & $3.75)- Ooh… what is this? This is different from anything I’ve received in a Birchbox. The directions are to run warm water over the muslin cloth that comes with it to wipe off the cleanser after you apply it. I think it’s supposed to give a cooling effect once your face is wiped clean. Sounds really pampering and I’m looking forward to using it.
Roloxin Lift ($10)- I’m really excited to try this. At first I thought this was just another foil packet sample (which aren’t my favorites), but this is actually a pretty valuable one– a package of 10 of these goes for $110. It’s for people who have been interested in Botox, but haven’t taken the plunge because of money or needles, or their opinions of the matter. You basically apply to your damp face all over… including up to the lower lash line and allow to dry for 7-10 min. Then rinse will warm water and apply your normal makeup. It tightens skin, smooth wrinkles and fills in pores and it lasts for 24 hours. I may try it out this weekend! I have a reunion I’m going to.
Like last month, I was really impressed by the size of all the samples! When I total everything up, it comes to $40.01 which surpasses last month, too in the most valuable Birchbox I’ve ever received. This is waaay more than the $10/month subscription price! Plus, if I factor in the $5 I get for reviewing the items on the website, it brings my total to $45.01!
I have to say that this is probably my favorite Birchbox I’ve ever received. I got a pampering face cleanser, half the size of my full-sized protector spray for my hair, hand cream, a miracle face treatment similar to Botox, and a cosmetic item. I will use ALL of these items this month. There’s usually one or a couple that I give away.
Are you a Birchbox subscriber? What was your favorite in the box this month?
