It’s my favorite time of the month again! The time when Fed Ex drops my big ol’ Hormel Cooler off at my step.
I do feel really fortunate to have been a part of the Hormel Extended Family Blogger Program for 2 cycles now. As a Hormel blogging ambassador, I receive Hormel products every month to cook with, eat, share, and write about. It’s so much fun and the girls and I always enjoy being surprised by what’s inside the cooler box every month!

May Cooler Contents:
Skippy Natural Creamy Peanut Butter– As long as the world keeps spinning, I feel I will always get this in my cooler. Which is good because this is the kind we use and we go through it often! Also, I’ve been trying to fight off “sweets” cravings and a spoonful (or two) of this curbs my cravings for chocolate.
Hormel Premium Chicken Breast– Oh my word… I just turned this can to the side and saw a (very rich-tasting sounding) “Buffalo Chicken Dip” recipe listed. That sounds SO good. I might have to try it out!
Hormel Chili Cook-Off Series, Roasted Tomato– I just read on my little monthly pamphlet that a recipe idea for this chili could be to include it in a 7-layer chili dip. That sounds really good. Seriously, I am getting dip on the brain now.
Herdez Mexican Cooking Sauces– Now, I really have dip on the brain. My monthly Hormel flyer informed me that May is National Salsa month! This isn’t salsa, but it’s a cooking sauce from Herdez which makes some of my favorite salsa, so I’m excited to try this sauce.
Herdez Tortillas– So, now that I see these, I could actually combine the chicken and the sauce and some corn and spoon that into these tortillas to make a super-easy dinner meal one night. Hmm, I might do that. I’m on an easy meal kick lately.
SPAM Black Pepper– I have to give a shout-out to a long-time buddy of mine, Jose, because he gets really excited when I receive SPAM in my coolers, although he lives across the country and doesn’t get to share it. I guess he lives vicariously through me. So, look, Jose! More SPAM!
Okay, so this is black pepper SPAM and on the back of the can it shows a pic of it fried up and layered inside a hoagie sandwich along with green peppers, mushrooms and onions. I wonder if that would be any good? What kind of sauce would go well inside that? Any suggestions?
So this was May’s box! What do you think? I am definitely thinking dips, dips, dips. Which is kind of bad because I’m trying not to snack as much– I am in my sister’s wedding soon and am trying to avoid getting my dress altered, so I need to lose just a breath of weight to get it to zip all the way up! Buuu-ut, maybe if I made just one dip recipe it wouldn’t hurt.
As always, recipe ideas and suggestions for Hormel ingredients (including any not pictured) are welcome!
