April marks my second month receiving the Love with Food subscription box (see previous month’s review here), which arrived several days ago (I needed time to eat everything!!) so without further ado, here is my April 2014 Love with Food review of the box which Love with Food kindly sent me to review plus a valuable coupon code for a free box!
In case you aren’t familiar, Love with Food is a monthly subscription box company that delivers organic, all-natural, hard-to-find gourmet snacks.
For every box sold, Love with Food donates a meal to several food banks to help combat childhood hunger, such as the Feeding America Network and Share Our Strength – No Kid Hungry.
Each month, Love with Food subscribers receive a box curated to a specific theme usually with 8 or more snacks. The April box theme this month was “Flower Power”. I like to figure out how subscription boxes flow with the theme of the information card. For this particular box, the contents mostly had a honey and orchard theme which ties in with how the fruit trees blossom during this time of year.
Love with Food has a reward point system. One way you can receive reward points is to review the snacks you received in your monthly box. You can redeem your points to purchase snacks in the Love with Food website shop. (I actually just redeemed some of mine which you’ll see further down the post!)
Orchard Blend by Sensible Foods– This was a mixture of dried apples, peaches and apricots. I shared this box heavily with my family this month because I hogged last month’s so much, so my daughters ate this as part of an after school snack! It was crunchy dried fruit, which was a little different for me, but I enjoy trying “different” which was one of the reasons I signed up for this subscription box 😉 .
Heart-tee by Wild Hibiscus Flower Co. – I still haven’t been in a tea mood, so I gave it to my tea-loving sis. The information card says that this tea is rumored to lower anxiety and stress. She’s a junior high teacher and working on her Masters, so she could probably really use this tea right now. 😉
Creamed Honey with Chocolate Mint by Vintage Bee – I wasn’t really sure what to do with this at first, so I gave it to my sister, as well, thinking it might go in her tea. Then I remembered how as a child, my class used to take field trips to a farm every year and I’d buy honey sticks from the gift shop and I’d suck on them on the way home. I wondered if this was a similar idea to the honey sticks and I regretted a little bit giving it to my sister! I’ll have to ask her if it was good
Almonds with Cranberries, Honey & Sea Salt by Sahale Snacks– Here’s another packet I gave to the girls when they were eating the Orchard Blend dried fruit, but I dug into this as well. I love salty sweet combinations and especially dried-cranberries!
Popcorn by Crave Canyon– This I saved all for myself… yes I did! The flavor I received was “Aged White Cheddar & Hatch Green Chile” and I wasn’t expecting the popcorn to be a bit— spicy? It kind of sneaks up on you mid-chew, but it’s delicious! I would like to try out the other flavors of this brand.
Honey Waffle by Meli– This is a crispy waffle snack with dried honey. I’m not a fan of waffles, so I, once again, divided it between my daughters as a snack. They enjoyed it!
Fiordfrutta Organic Fruit Spread by Rigoni Di Asiago– The sample I received was “Apricot” which is one of my favorite flavors of jellies/preserves/fruit spreads, so of course I found it delicious
Organic Energy Bar by BumbleBar– This didn’t especially stand-out to me, but it wasn’t bad. I kind of wished it was slightly sweeter.. a bit more honey-glazed tasting
Mario Snack Olives– These didn’t come in my April Love with Food box, but they were what pushed me over the edge to sign up for Love with Food in the first place. I think I saw them in February’s box on a site somewhere online? Anyway, I’m such an olive junkie that I decided to redeem some of my reward points on them this month so I got them for free!
A final look at all the goodies…
