Have you ever wondered how fun and amazing it would be to start your own company with a close girl friend? Well, that is exactly the scenario that started the company “Among Friends, LLC“!
Over coffee and cookies, friends Suzie and Lizanne decided to embark on a venture to share their baked goods with other discriminating palettes. They went in with the understanding that these days, the desire to prepare food made from fine ingredients is on the rise, and people want to eat nutritious foods without sacrificing great taste, but many times cooking and baking from scratch isn’t always convenient.
Among Friends Handcrafted Baking Mixes makes baking easy. Almost everything you need is already in the bag! Most mixes only require a couple extra ingredients to prepare (such as butter).
All the mixes are free of peanuts and most importantly, free of the bad stuff…..no gums, starches, fillers, ever. All products are verified by the Non-GMO Project and the Whole Grains Council, and their gluten-free products are certified by the Gluten Free Certification Organization.
I had the opportunity to bake a couple of these mixes and, boy, was my family willing to give me my space to get my blogging “work” done! It made me realize that I never bake, always buy sweets just out of convenience.
First on the menu was “Phil ’em up” Chocolate Cranberry Cookie Mix. Preparation was SUPER duper easy! I opened the bag of mix, poured it into a bowl, and mixed an egg, vanilla, and butter in with the mix. Formed little balls with the dough onto a cookie sheet and popped into the oven at 350 for 8 minutes and voilà! Super chewy, and delicious!
And super simple, too. I realized after preparing these that the reason I never bake is because I don’t enjoy measuring out all the ingredients. But with this cookie mix, I really didn’t have to. For lack of better words, it was basically: “dump and stir”, which I can handle. Especially if it means putting higher quality ingredients into my family’s tummies.
The second mix I tried was “Trish the Dish” Crisp Mix (Cute name, huh? Their mixes are lovingly named after friends and family members). This is a versatile crisp topping that you can prepare with any kind of fruit (I used frozen raspberries and chopped apples) and you can eat it as a a breakfast, dessert or snack. I had some as a side with a cup of coffee, but it would probably be pretty tasty as a Greek yogurt topping, as well!
So here is some fabulous news: Among Friends has generously offered to send THREE (3) Leapfrog and Lipgloss readers TWO (2) baking mixes each of their choice!
